       License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License required. Valid Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) preferred.Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.Experience Qualifications: Ten years experience in the logistics industry or a related field required.Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to work successfully with colleagues; knowledge of an extensive body of rules including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety Rules, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) handbook; ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to manage multiple priorities; strong human relations skills; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.Primary Responsibilities: Manage the dispatch operations for the Transportation Department through facilitation of communication among buses, schools, and supervisors and manage the field-trip and after-school transportation operations.1. Manage the dispatch program for the Transportation Department.a. Develop the processes and procedures for the dispatch program.b. Coordinate activities within the department in an effort to improve services offered.2. Manage the athletics and field trip program for the Transportation Department.a. Develop the processes and procedures for the field trip and activity trip programs.b. Analyze data regarding field trips to enhance service to schools and athletic departments. 3. Manage after school programs for the Transportation Department.a. Develop the processes and procedures for the after school program.b. Develop and manage billing process for all after school, Saturday school, and summer school activities.4. Assist in the safe transportation of students to and from school and school-related activities.a. Develop emergency procedures for bus managers and dispatchers.b. Work with local authorities (i.e., police and fire departments) to ensure programs provide safety for both bus managers and students.c. Manage emergency situations for effective transportation of students to and from school.5. Communicate with various parties regarding dispatch, field trips, and after-school operations.a. Communicate in a cordial and concise manner with employees in department and, when needed, with school administrators, athletic directors, bus managers, and the general public.b. Communicate through different mediums including, but not limited to, radio, e-mail, personal contact, and written or verbal methods.6. Assist with hiring and training for the Transportation Department.a. Recommend hiring/terming and training of dispatch, field trip, and after-school personnel to meet the demands of the department and compliance within the department and district.b. Plan, develop, and conduct operations training sessions. 7. Solve routine and complex problems in a time conscious environment.a. Utilize knowledge of the department and district to resolve the issues that may occur as a result of transportation operations.8. Ensure the highest degree of customer service is provided.a. Communicate with all parties in a businesslike, courteous, and efficient manner.b. Represent the office professionally in all aspects of communication.c. Help cultivate a responsive and customer-centered climate.d. Seek ways to be responsive to the needs of staff.9. Maintain proper documentation for the department.a. Maintain records of all bus malfunctions, accidents, and injuries to ensure reports are forwarded to the proper department in a timely manner.b. Maintain appropriate documentation, such as attendance, payroll, leave, and performance measures for dispatch program staff.10. Evaluate personnel with the goal of maintaining or improving performance. a. Develop methods and plans to improve performance. 11. Manage designated fleet accidents.12. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
