Sheet Metal Installer

$30-50/hr

Job Description

We are seeking a mechanically inclined and dynamic Sheet Metal Journeyman/high-level apprentice with strong knowledge of the industry. This role involves working on residential multifamily projects and custom homes to install high-end HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Utilize industry knowledge and experience to install and repair sheet metal ducting and components on new construction and custom homes jobs, ensuring workspaces are clean and organized.

• Train and coach apprentices on how to install and repair sheet metal installations, referencing industry codes and standards.

• Support and motivate the team in a positive manner with a continuous improvement attitude.

• Maintain transparent communication with the Project Manager, including providing job status, installation progress, materials needed, and site updates.

• Assemble sheet metal parts by fitting and joining them together and installing ductwork and fittings in residential and commercial spaces.

• Strategically plan, layout, and measure fittings by reading blueprints carefully while working with HVAC/R Technicians to execute jobs.

• Utilize sheet metal experience to coach, motivate, and assign technicians as needed on New Construction, Custom Homes, and Tenant Improvement jobs, including gathering proposals, labor and material costs, and providing both numerical and descriptive information on jobs.

• Collect materials and equipment from wholesalers as needed for the job.

• Submit drawings and work orders to the fabrication shop for assembly.

• Complete administrative paperwork for jobs as needed.

• Respond to vendors and developers on job sites, including the Project Manager when necessary.

Essential Skills

• Red Seal Certification in Sheet Metal

• Ability to perform repetitive work

• Comfortable with heights and working on ladders

• Able to lift up to 50lbs and work on feet for up to 8 hours

• Ability to work with others and independently on tasks as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 3rd+ year apprentice (must be registered)

• 3+ years of sheet metal experience

• New construction sheet metal experience

• Own vehicle

• Own tools

• Manufacturer-specific HVAC ticket (nice to have)

• Red Seal (nice to have)

Work Environment

You will be working on various new construction builds, including projects in Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, and upcoming projects in Vancouver. Current projects include low-rise apartment buildings, with potential growth into high-rise buildings. Occasional commercial work may also be required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00
