JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Senior RF Technician must be able to design, program, install, optimize, maintain, troubleshoot and repair two-way radio and associated communications equipment & systems including mobile and portable subscriber units. Successful candidates will be motivated, customer service oriented, highly organized and detail oriented and professional in appearance Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install and support wireless communications systems, including complex radio systems for public safety and enterprise customers. Create high-level programming code plugs for systems such as P25, Linked CAP, CAP MAX, and Repeaters. Provide system recommendations and designs that align with customer requirements. Diagnose, repair, program, and install LMR RF equipment. Demonstrate a complex understanding of two-way radio theory and RF propagation characteristics across various frequency bands. Conduct installations and servicing of complex wireless communications systems, including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, and microwave systems. System Installation: Install LMR systems, including base stations, repeaters, mobile units, and portable radios Antenna Setup: Install and align antennas and towers to ensure optimal signal strength and coverage Equipment Configuration: Program and configure radios and related equipment to meet user specifications and operational requirements Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on LMR systems to ensure they are functioning correctly Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with radio equipment, including signal interference, connectivity problems, and hardware malfunctions Repairs: Replace or repair faulty components, including circuit boards, batteries, and antennas System Testing and Optimization Signal Testing: Use specialized equipment to test and measure signal strength, quality, and coverage areas Performance Optimization: Adjust settings and configurations to optimize system performance and address any identified issues Software Updates: Install and update firmware and software on radio equipment as needed Documentation and Reporting Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations Operate test equipment such as communications service monitors, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters. Utilize MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes. Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Skills and Qualifications A strong technical aptitude and an ability to grasp concepts and practices quickly Associate\'s degree (AS/AA) or technical training in the areas of electronics, computers, networking, RF or equivalent work experience (OJT) Intermediate knowledge of RF test equipment such as Transmission Impairment Test Sets, signal generators, RF service monitors, spectrum analyzers, Site Master, and LAN testers Basic Computer and Networking skills A strong customer focus Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Valid driver\'s license Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen Superior, Wisconsin: Relocate before starting work (Required) Experience and Education 10+ years of experience in creating high-level programming code plugs, installing, and servicing complex wireless communications systems, and providing system recommendations. Professional electronics background. Proven experience in operating test equipment (Communications Service Monitors, Watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, Multimeters) Must be able to successfully pass and maintain the ability to pass background checks and obtain security clearances, as well as possess and maintain a clean driving record. High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Valid Driver\'s License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
