CITY OF SUPERIOR Playground Monitor in SUPERIOR, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Join the Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department\'s summer playground team to help create a safe and structured play environment in one of our beautiful City parks. Help us get kids outside and stay active this summer! Summer Playground Program Program runs June 17th - August 16th, 2024 (excluding July 4th/5th) Monday-Friday; 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 25 hours/week (weather permitting) Mandatory training will be on June 13th and 14th. Applications will be reviewed and Playground Monitors may be hired prior to the posting deadline, so apply today! (Must be at least 16 at time of application) DEFINITION: Under supervision, performs duties related to recreational programs for children and adults at a variety of sites; and does other work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This series provides the City with the opportunity to utilize a variety of community members for various recreational programs on a non-permanent basis. Recreation Program Monitor performs a variety of tasks in support of a variety of recreational programs offered by the City. Assignments to this class include performing tasks for the summer playground program. TYPICAL TASKS: Recreation Program Monitor: Performs a variety of duties as assigned for special events, playground programs, working with facilities and equipment and monitoring and assisting program participants. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and abilities: Actively motivate program participants; Effectively deal with stressful and emergency situations; Hear and distinguish a variety of sounds such as those of participants in need of assistance in a noisy environment, fire alarms, and approaching vehicles or equipment which might pose a danger; See program participants in need of assistance from near and far distances; Speak loudly in order to warn program participants of impending danger.
