POSITION: Archivist II, LM006, Full-time 100%, Academic Staff, 12-month appointment Ongoing/Renewable, one vacancy POSITION SUMMARY: The CLIC@JDHL is a busy, multi-faceted, 13-person unit committed to supporting the UW-Superior mission in its provision of community, resources, and support for students, staff, and the community. As a staff, the unit prioritizes community-building, professional development, and collaboration. This position provides a wide variety of advanced archival services in collection development, creation, and appraisal of collection materials in a variety of formats, arrangement and description, preservation, reference and research support, and outreach and instruction in support of historical documentation, education, and research. Provides input on policies and procedures, typically through committee work, to contribute to services and operations and assist in continual service improvement and innovation. Solves complex problems based on advanced knowledge and expertise. Initiates process improvements, policy changes, and new initiatives, typically through committee work, to contribute towards continual improvement in services and operations. Provides reference and outreach services to students online and face-to-face; provides library instruction; serves as a liaison to one or more academic departments; is responsible for monitoring and implementing best practices and trends. UW-STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES: -Appraises, acquires, creates, and processes primary sources to make them discoverable based on established guidelines and policies. -Authenticates historical documents and archival materials and researches their significance as it relates to collection appraisal and research. -Develops and leads archives instructional initiatives and integrates archival collections into course assignments and curriculum. Assists patrons with reference and research; may teach courses. -Develops policies, procedures, and assessment tools to improve user experience and workflows. -Collaborates with vendors, technology communities, and internal & UW System technical support staff to manage the implementation and use of archival software tools to maximize workflow efficiency and contribute to national archives technology efforts. -Cultivates and stewards relationships with donors, collectors, faculty, alumni, students, and community partners. -Fosters relationships with professional colleagues and participates in professional development and scholarly activities within the field. -Identifies and evaluates preservation needs of items and determines preservation solutions including digitization. -May direct the day-to-day activities of student workers. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.
