Hoffman Construction Company Warehouse Manager in Sunnyvale, California

Position Summary: The Warehouse Manager will operate within the Purchasing department and report to the Purchasing Director. They will collaborate closely with various project-level management team members. This role involves overseeing daily operations to efficiently receive, store, and manage a wide range of goods. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for achieving productivity targets, maintaining accurate inventory records, managing warehouse staff, allocating resources, and implementing safety and quality standards to ensure operational excellence.

We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated Warehouse Manager to oversee receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations. This role entails supervising receiving, storage, order processing, dispatching, security, maintenance, and administrative functions within a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates should be dedicated, competent, and possess strong leadership skills, thriving in both independent and collaborative work settings. They should consistently seek ways to enhance efficiency and uphold high operational standards. This position will be fully at the project site located in Sunnyvale, CA.

Salary Range: $91,000 - $117,000 annually, depending on experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations.

• Maintain inbound and outbound delivery schedules.

• Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse and yard space.

• Initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational policies and procedures.

• Resolve problems promptly with a heightened sense of urgency; escalate issues to appropriate team members for resolution when necessary.

• Collaborate with the Expeditor on shipment scheduling, space requirements, and offloading needs.

• Document, investigate, and escalate shipment irregularities.

• Ensure accurate tracking and management of inventory levels.

• Ensure the safe and effective use of warehouse equipment.

• Coordinate with transportation companies, subcontractors, and clients.

• Gather feedback and monitor service quality.

• Assist with deliveries as needed.

Qualifications:

Position Related Skills

• Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams), and general computer network operations.

• Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and work effectively under high-pressure situations.

• Excellent time-management skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks amidst frequent interruptions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a knack for developing strong interpersonal relationships.

• Capability to collaborate closely with various trade and craft personnel in fieldwork scenarios, requiring patience and professionalism.

• Strong team-player mindset, capable of collaborating effectively with personnel across departments and at all levels of leadership.

• Flexible work schedule to accommodate extended hours or off-shift work, aligning with changing construction schedules and sequences.

Professional Experience and Education

• 3-5 years of experience as a Warehouse Manager.

• Previous experience in construction is preferred.

• Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices.

• Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage staff effectively.

• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration is preferred.

• Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment more than 50% of the time, with the occasional requirement to move about the construction site.

• Must be able to access work being done on multiple levels.

• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Occasionally uses machinery and other tools to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, and position materials.

• Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must be able to; visually inspect work, look for small defects, and small parts, and/or operate machines (including inspection); use measurement devices; and/or assemble or fabricate parts. Must be able to safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license. The worker is required to have the ability to perform duties such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents.

• Must be able to occasionally work in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to wear hearing protection as necessary. Often required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting and, on the phone/digital meetings.

• Mental alertness, accuracy and attention to detail required.
