Position Summary...

What you'll do...

At Walmart, we prioritize innovation and data security. The eDiscovery & Forensic Lab's Development and Engineering team that sits within Walmart Global Tech's Information Security Division is dedicated to maintaining a secure operating environment and preserving the trust of our customers, associates, and stakeholders. Our focus is on providing support to the eDiscovery and Forensics Lab- an ANAB accredited lab- whose mission is to support our business partners in the identification, collection, and preservation of electronically stored information related to litigation and investigative matters.

The eDiscovery & Forensic Lab's Development and Engineering team develops and supports the products that help secure the largest retailer on Earth. We use cutting edge technology to create products that solve the complex and ever-changing challenges faced by the Lab team and its customers within Walmart.

What you'll do:

  • Y ou will report to the Director of the Lab's Development & Engineering Team .

  • You will be responsible for supporting the La b in developing custom solutions to aid in evidence collection while maintaining the L ab's ANAB accreditation.

  • Provide structured data deliverables and application administration support - to include heavy interactions and use of MS SQL, MS SQL Server Management Studios, Big Query, MS SQL Stored Procedures.

  • Hands-on automated application management to include maintenance and enhancements.

  • Provide customer support to respond to the needs of the internal L ab team or our customer base within Walmart.

  • Work within a team environment that is responsible for taking on daily, rapidly changing projects and case work in a DevOps environment.

What you'll bring:

  • A passion and enjoyment of solving complex challenges primarily focused in optimization of extraction of information from structured databases.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS- SQL ; Microsoft SQL Server Management Studios ; Stored Procedures; MS-SQL Query optimization; Microsoft Excel; Big Query; JIRA; Confluence; Microsoft Teams.

  • Preferred experience: Database Administration; Powershell ; PowerBI ; Data Extraction; Load Files; Data Normalization; Data Processing; Scheduled Jobs.

  • The ability to work in a team-based environment utilizing DevOps principles with the desire and ability to learn in a fast-paced evolving environment.

  • Track record of generating ideas for process improvements and practices that can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the managed applications while working in a team-based environment.

Legal Acumen:

Requires knowledge of:

Legal rules and processes related to eDiscovery; Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; Chain of custody; Data custodian; Discovery processes in litigation; Admissible evidence; Litigation holds; Document responsiveness; Records management; Spoliation.

To explain and apply legal concepts to the data extraction process in order to be able to determine what data is responsive. Apply legal perspective when researching ESI (for example, hard drives, systems, databases, file sharing platforms, messaging platforms, social media, text messages, document collaboration and file-sharing platforms, third-party archives). Understand assigned roles in eDiscovery processes in order to collaborate with lawyers, paralegals, and legal analysts. Research and understand automated machine learning capabilities needed to cull large volumes of data and the key word search criteria necessary for valid legal analysis. Participate in discussions with team members in order to break down legal issues into understandable concepts. Follow procedures that help guide the evaluation of large-scale (eDiscovery requests (for example, legal holds on user mailboxes, mailbox content search criteria).

Harvesting Electronically Stored Information (ESI):

Requires knowledge of:

Structured and unstructured data; Unitization; Unicode; Threads; Tagging; System files; Stemming; Social discovery; Slack space; Document responsiveness; Recall and precision; Data processing; Predictive coding; Parent and child documents; Optical Character Recognition; Normalization; Native Formats; Metadata; Load files.

To coordinate and monitor the various steps involved in records retention programs. Ensure that all exceptions and unusual circumstances are properly captured and reviewed. Use detailed knowledge of records retention programs to conduct training and/or meetings. Enhance the processes and procedures used in the organization's records retention program. Help team members understand how the recording of information impacts other business units. Provide guidance in documenting pertinent information. Evaluates best practices of data gathering and analysis within the industry. Advise on advanced harvesting methods, techniques, and analysis methodologies. Teach team members to improve the validity and reliability harvested data used in eDiscovery responses.

Information Assurance:

To draft junior-level countermeasures to handle a variety of information risks. Follow guidelines for information assurance in an assigned department while working under a supervisor's guidance. Test the effectiveness of information assurance activities within an assigned department. Select information assurance tools for an assigned department's needs. Perform the basic steps in the safeguarding of information. Participates in developing back-up, recovery, and archival practices and procedures. Assist in the installation, configuration, and support of information management software. Follow organizational guidelines and policies on information management. Analyze issues and requirements for the management of information resources.

Technical and Legal Documentation:

Requires knowledge of:

Admissibility; Chain of custody; Data custodians; Deduplication; DeNISTing; eDiscovery principles; Electronic evidence; Filtering; Litigation holds; Native formats; Near-duplicates; Privilege or proprietary claims; Records management; Spoliation.

To use the major features, functions, and functionalities of automated documentation tools. Complete and maintain technical and legal reference documents. Coordinate and update team process and procedure documentation. Prepare eDiscovery responses according to required outlines and specifications. Assist in documenting evidence needed to defend the organization in a lawsuit.

Electronically Stored Information Process Audit:

Requires knowledge of:

To implement the basic ESI audit technology used within the organization. Participate in meetings regarding applicable legal and regulatory considerations. Explain major ESI audit and compliance programs, initiatives, and issues. Work with the major units and sub-functions of Audit, Compliance, and Legal, as well as other business leaders.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
