DoorDash Engineering Manager, Fulfillment Optimization & Execution in Sunnyvale, California
About the Team
DoorDash is seeking a talented Engineering Manager to lead our Fulfillment Optimization & Execution team. Our goal is to improve fulfillment quality and reduce fulfillment cost by optimizing 1) DoorDash’s fulfillment input and 2) how Dashers execute fulfillment plans. In addition to focusing on our core logistics system, the team seeks to collaborate across various engineering platforms at DoorDash, including systems that serve Consumers, Merchants, and Dashers.
About the Role
As the manager for the Fulfillment Optimization & Execution team, you will manage a team of backend, full-stack, and machine learning engineers. You will be responsible for driving the technical vision, strategy, and execution of the team charter.

Lead machine learning engineers who apply machine learning models and optimization algorithms to shape the consumer demand that elevates quality for our consumers while minimizing costs
Lead mobile engineers (both IOS and Android) to customize the mobile experiences for Dashers to improve their satisfaction, consumer experience, and logistic efficiency
Guide the platformization strategy for an engineering system that offers logistics solutions and insights for other parts of DoorDash’s system.
Improve our logistic decision engines to improve the experience of Consumers, Dashers, and Merchants
Scale the team by growing internal talent and attracting world-class talent

Collaborate with partner teams to explore opportunities to reduce fulfillment costs and improve fulfillment quality
We’re excited about you because…
BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
You have 2+ years of engineering leadership experience as an EM managing machine learning, backend, web and mobile engineers
You have 7+ years of industry experience
You’re an owner - driven, focused, and quick to take ownership of your work
You are impact driven - you sign up for and drive high-business impact
A strong hands-on technical leader and strong product sense
Humble - you’re willing to get into the details and you’re open to feedback
You have experience navigating ambiguous business problems and tackling high-scale technical challenges.

Compensation
The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within the United States.
