Google Director, Network Delivery Engineering in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 15 years of technical program management experience, including process optimization, program management, and cross-functional influence at leadership level.

  • Experience in engineering or operations leadership and management in the data center, networking, or telecom environments.

  • Experience working in organizational settings (e.g., shared accountability, geographic dispersion, ambiguity, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA.

  • Experience supporting engineering organizations or working horizontally across matrixed organizations.

  • Experience leading process engineering, including end-to-end optimization, particularly in identifying and driving on-going process improvement, and leveraging software support to increase efficiency.

  • Experience in directing a distributed global program management team, with the ability to bring together a shared vision for a team.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent the organization within and outside the company.

  • Capable of technical deep-dives into design specifications of Google's network.

As Director, Network Delivery Engineering, you will lead a distributed team of technical program managers and network infrastructure engineers who are collectively responsible for Global Network Delivery’s strategic programs. These programs include NPI and Lifecycle programs, network data systems, and process improvements. You will be responsible for our physical infrastructure engineering team. You'll hire, build and retain an engaged, inclusive team that transforms the data center network and capacity delivery space.

In this role, you will be responsible for the systems, process, and data for infrastructure delivery and network operations, lead the efficient integration of new network, data center, and infrastructure products and technologies into our deployment teams, and for large, pan-TI efforts to improve our delivery velocity and performance.

Your experience crafting complex multi-year digital transformation strategies, including end-to-end process optimization and operational change management, will be key in facilitating your understanding of the needs and functions of network engineering, platforms engineering, data center, and capacity delivery teams, the existing technology ecosystems which support and enable those functions, and how that ecosystem can evolve to support the future of Google’s network. You will partner with engineering organizations of scale and work horizontally across Google’s Technical Infrastructure executives and teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Provide Project Management Organization (PMO) leadership for large, complex, cross-functional program teams, inspiring teams to challenge norms, create scaled solutions, and increase the maturity of our network processes and systems. Lead cross-functional initiatives with key stakeholders to build the leadership capabilities to drive organizational transformation.

  • Design, implement, and execute processes that enable scalable deployment of new network technologies.

  • Optimize network infrastructure technology and delivery, in partnership with data center and network engineering teams, as well as construction and operations partners.

  • Define near-term and long-term strategy to support Information/Data Management needs across the network infrastructure lifecycle.

  • Identify process gaps, align across teams to scale processes, while ensuring the smooth deployment of quality infrastructure and capacity in support of the needs of both internal and external customers.
