We are searching for an experienced Controls Research Scientist at the Senior Staff level to join our exceptional team. In this role you will support a range of programs from optical, navigation, directed energy, and RF by performing research, analysis, design and development of control systems algorithms and software. Some areas of responsibility include:
• Control system architecture design and implementation for spacecraft, missiles, and directed energy missions
• Advanced control and stabilization concepts
• Line of sight control
• Dynamics, Orbits, and PNT
• Jitter rejection and compensation
• Target detection, tracking, and filtering
We are seeking someone who demonstrates genuine interest in these subjects and who is eager to work with respected experts in the field, as well as mentor more junior engineers. You should demonstrate the ability able to work effectively and thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. We are looking for a colleague with strong communication skills and an excellent analytical skill set who enjoys working in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.
You would typically have a related PhD with 9-15 years of professional experience, a Masters with 12-18 years, or a Bachelors with 14-20 years.
US Citizenship is required with the ability to acquire and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience with control system design and/or analysis on flight aerospace systems
• Demonstrated experience with electro-optical sensors and/or optical systems
• Math background to include linear algebra, matrix math, and/or 3D coordinate transforms
• Fluency with MATLAB and/or Simulink
• Real time software programming (e.g. C/C++ or similar)
• US Citizenship with the ability to acquire and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
Desired Skills:
• PhD in related discipline
• Knowledge/experience with control of optical
systems including line of sight pointing, fast steering
mirrors, gimbal systems, jitter/beamwalk
controls, target acquisition and tracking.
• Experience with filtering, estimation, and tracking (Kalman Filters, Multi-Target Tracking)
• Knowledge/experience with multi-input-multioutput
(MIMO) controls and advanced control
methods.
• Autonomy enabled control solutions
• Experience and/or ability developing new technologies, driving from new concept formulation and development through to demonstration of the concept in prototype testing or field demonstration
• Current TS/SCI clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $123,500 - $236,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
