Meta AR Hardware Product Architect in Sunnyvale, California

Summary:

The AR Hardware Architect is a technical role responsible for driving innovation and overseeing all aspects of architecture development for AR devices. This individual contributor collaborates with cross-functional leaders in subsystems and engineering domains. They must have a proven track record of successfully developing practical product architectures that are optimized for the user, starting with high-level product requirements, demonstrating technical depth, and possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Skills:

AR Hardware Product Architect Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct studies and detailed analyses that drive transparent and inclusive decisions in a complex trade space

  2. Work with internal teams and external vendors to deliver product prototypes and derisk architectures

  3. Create high-level technical requirements that map directly to the user experience

  4. Evaluate alternative architecture options from internal and external partners

  5. Engage with technology project leads and various design verticals in creating the overall system architecture and drive the continued optimization through product execution

  6. Perform analyses on product-level requirements to decompose them into concrete design requirements across design verticals (e.g. ME, EE, optics, silicon, thermal, etc.)

  7. Establish strategic relationships with product peers in engineering, research, business, design, and user research teams to define product requirements and architecture

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or relevant industry experience

  2. Previous AR, VR, or Wearables product experience

  3. 6+ years of experience in hardware product development, with one or more products successfully shipping to market

  4. Proven technical expertise one or more of the following areas: See-Through Displays, Multi-Sensor Input, Human Computer Interaction, Calibration, Computer Vision, Optomechanical Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  5. Effective communication skills, to articulate complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture

  1. Previous experience in a System Engineering or Architecture role in AR/VR/MR

  2. Having worked on and shipped an AR/VR product to market

  3. Proven technical expertise two or more of the following areas: See-Through Displays, Multi-Sensor Input, Human Computer Interaction, Calibration, Computer Vision, Optomechanical Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  4. 8+ years of direct relevant experience

  5. Experience shipping complex wearable products at scale with displays/optics components

Public Compensation:

$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
