Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in phlebotomy, with proficiency in using straight needles. A phlebotomy certification is required. The candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a welcoming personality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, paps, putting paps together, biopsies, and medical swabs (training provided for duties outside of phlebotomy).

  • Conduct blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and handle decontamination.

  • Update patient information accurately.

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously to patients.

  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles.

  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.

  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

  • Package specimens for transport.

  • Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience with straight needles.

  • Phlebotomy certification.

  • Reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in specimen collection, patient care, venipuncture, and blood draws.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

  • Bubbly and welcoming personality preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is at a members-only location in Sunnyside, NY, with coverage required at four Hotel Trade sites: 265 Ashland Place, Brooklyn; 37-, Sunnyside, Queens; 133 Morningside, Harlem; and Midtown- 50th and 9th. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 5:45pm. There are no weekend shifts, and there is the opportunity for consistent hours, with most consultants working up to 45 hours weekly. Additionally, there is potential for a direct hire after the contract period.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
