Lackawanna College Math Adjunct Instructor in Sunbury, Pennsylvania

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Adjunct Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult education and experience in higher education teaching. This role involves developing and delivering engaging course content, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting students in their academic journey. The Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for teaching courses that may include adult language education, creative writing, GIS, and other related subjects. Looking for the following positions:

Responsibilities

  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials that align with program objectives.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in a classroom setting, utilizing various teaching methods to engage students.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation from all students.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding their progress and provide academic support as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the educational experience and curriculum offerings.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of study and incorporate relevant content into the curriculum.

Skills

  • Strong background in adult language education and adult education principles.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in creative writing and the ability to teach writing skills effectively.
  • Experience working with students in a higher education setting is essential.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is beneficial for relevant courses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly.
  • Ability to educate diverse learners and adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage course materials and student assessments effectively.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $35.09 per hour

Expected hours: 6 -- 9 per week
