Continental Internal - Manufacturing Technician III (Lead) – Mold Shop (Night Shift) in Sumter, South Carolina

THE POSITION

  • Responsible for leadership on a given shift in the mold shop

  • Schedule achievement for phase ins and outs, mold cleanings, TSL’s, bladder changes and set-ups

  • Ensure all documentation is filled out properly and turned in at end of shift to include mold log, bladder log, set-up log, and BOL to and from King Machine

  • Must be familiar with basic dimensioning and tolerances, have basic mechanical skills, be self-managed/motivated, and able to work as a part of a team

  • Must have strong troubleshooting, critical thinking skills, communications skills, basic computer skills, and attention to detail

  • Must be able to receive and follow written and oral instructions as to specs, procedures, tolerances, and various construction and quality requirements and able to understand engineered drawings or be trained how to

  • Perform shift changeover with previous shift leader to ensure smooth information exchange

  • Must be able to adjust manpower to areas where shortages may occur

  • Monitor SFI closely to ensure presses are coded properly as they pertain to mold shop related down codes

  • Recommend changes to curing supervisor and sequencing as needed depending on situation of molds and their conditions

  • Keep mold shop supervisor informed of all information related to safety incidents, mold breakdowns, and other production interruptions

  • Ensure FIFO and proper storage of curing bladders

  • Ensure that all mold and bladder work instructions, procedures, and specifications are followed

  • Follow standard practices and follow plant safety policies, environmental policies, and keep work areas neat, clean, and orderly

  • Issue procedures and work instructions, ensure implementation of measures, and maintain controls

  • Raise awareness, ensure regular ESH training and provide information about ESH responsibilities and duties

  • Ensure immediate notification and response, and initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards

  • Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others

  • Support the Continental Business System (CBS) structure by participating in the applicable CBT meeting, reviewing and managing his/her/team performance, conducting simple problem-solving using action sheets, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities, participating in the CBT reviews, and taking ownership for presented parts of the team boards

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Two or more years’ experience in the mold shop at Continental Sumter

  • Must be able to work 12 hour 2-2-3 pattern (panama) shift 6:45pm-7:00am and every other weekend

  • This role is an internal only position, external applicants will not be considered for this role

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Continental is not able to offer visa support.

  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to frequently bend, climb, kneel, and lift up to 85 lbs. in hot environment and stand for long periods of time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior relevant tooling and mold experience

  • Vocational or post-secondary mechanical training
