Atlantic Health System is Seeking an Advance Practice Clinician to Support Gastroenterology in Summit, NJ
Atlantic Health System, one of New Jersey's largest non-profit healthcare systems, is seeking a Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) to join a growing GI practice in Summit, NJ, affiliated with Overlook Medical Center. The outpatient practice is brand-new and features primary care, as well as other subspecialities for patient convenience and clinician support.
Summit, NJ, located just 20 miles west of New York City, features a bustling downtown brimming with diverse dining and shopping options, excellent schools, and convenient mass transit access, making it an ideal blend of suburban tranquility and urban connectivity.
Responsibilities
Advocate for patients, family members, and nursing personnel
Support policy and services that advocate for patient rights and optimal environments of healthcare
Develop plans of care and implementation of treatment
Perform evidence-based interventions consistent with patient/family needs
Evaluate effectiveness of interventions for resolution or preventing patient care problems
Document appropriately in the medical record; discharge summaries for distribution to collaborating and referring physicians
Manage and assist to meet health education needs of patient and families
Initiate consultation and referrals to appropriate specialty providers when indicated
Collaborate with other disciplines in consultation, teaching, management, and research activities to improve outcomes in nursing practice and enhance the healthcare environment
Prioritize daily tasks and assignments
Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes
Engage in critical analysis of own practice experience and the medical literature for the purposes of self and practice improvement
Pursue and participate in formal and independent learning activities to enhance knowledge, clinical competency, and professional development

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey
ACLS and BLS certification required
3-5 years of Gastroenterology experience preferred
Medical Sub-Specialty experience preferred
Must have excellent communication and computer skills
Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently
