Service Source Warehouse Specialist in Suitland, Maryland

Pay rate : $24.62 + $4.57 (H&W) hourl

As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

Primary Duties

  • Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities received against bills of lading, invoices, purchase records, manifests, storage receipts, or other records. Check for damaged goods and ensure the goods are appropriately identified, noting and reporting discrepancies and damaged goods, and routing to departments within the establishment.

  • Perform inventories of materials received as part of purchase orders, credit card orders, store stock sales and purchase orders, incoming and outgoing storage material, and excess property.

  • Store, stack or palletize material in accordance with prescribed storage and shipping methods.

  • Operate x-ray scanning equipment and transport items from the receiving area to the warehouse stocking area.

  • Pull, count, and process product for orders, and verify description and quantities to maintain accurate inventory records.

    Additional Responsibilities

  • Contact vendors and shippers to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are forwarded on specified shipping date by performing necessary duties.

  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.

  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials and report deterioration and damage.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Development Educational (GED) required.

  • Per contract, valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR) required.

  • 2-3 years of direct experience in warehouse services required.

  • Security Clearance and background check requirements, if applicable, are determined by the contract.

  • Knowledge of electronic pallet jack and forklift preferred

  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.

  • Good oral/verbal communication skills.

  • Must provide excellent customer service.

  • A well organized, detail oriented, and self-directed individual who is a team player.

The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.
