Reporting to the Academic Support Manager, Academic Support Coaches is a compassionate, committed and energetic professional who helps students engage in learning. This role is focused initiatives that providing academic support and coaching to special populations of students, including but not limited to first-generation, accelerated learners, students with disabilities, low-income, and students from underserved backgrounds. The Academic Support Coach will play a critical role in helping these students achieve their educational goals and succeed academically.

Responsibilities

Provide academic support and coaching to Waubonsee students, 1:1 or in a group setting.

Develop personalized coaching plans and strategies tailored to the needs of the student.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other supports to ensure a holistic approach for students.

When appropriate, visit classrooms within assigned courses.

Navigate and refer students to the appropriate campus resource and service such as tutoring, counseling, financial aid, etc.

Work with faculty and monitor and track student academic progress and create interventions if necessary.

Conduct workshops and seminars on various academic skills and strategies.

Assist with identifying new intervention techniques and services, programs, and/or initiatives that would benefit student progress.

Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.

Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in academic coaching and support.

Create and implement strategies to help students feel connected and engaged with the campus community.

Maintain confidentiality at all levels.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field; Master\'s degree preferred.

Experience working with special populations of students, particularly in a higher education setting.

Strong understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by first-generation, low-income, and underserved students.

Resourcefulness, with excellent problem solving and research skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Being open to change and new methods in the assigned areas of responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Bilingual skills are a plus
