Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Leader Coordinator to manage Key Leader Engagements for General Officer/Flag Officer (GOFO) Distinguished Visitors (DVs) at the Joint Staff J-7 Joint Wargaming and Experimentation Division (JWED) in Suffolk, Virginia. The Senior Leader Coordinator will serve as the primary lead, coordinating with GOFO DVs and their staff members to ensure their presence and engagement at multiple globally integrated wargames and joint experimentation events throughout the year. These events play an essential role in assessing concept development and design activities at the strategic and operational levels, as well as the concept of operations in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Services, Combatant Commands, Intelligence Community, Defense Agencies, Allies, and other partners to shape the Joint Force of the Future.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Serve as part of a broad multi-disciplinary team of operational military subject-matter experts, operations research analysts, and wargame planners focusing on joint wargaming, experimentation, and integrated learning opportunities.

• Coordinate with senior military leaders and civilian officials, as well as their staff members to request, coordinate, plan for, and manage GOFO DV’s presence and participation at multiple integrated wargaming events.

• Possess recent and robust understanding of the command and staff structures across all Services, the Joint Staff, and other warfighting commands.

• Incorporate knowledge of military administrative and operational concepts and principles into new procedures to eliminate conflict and duplication of work efforts.

• Serve as a personal senior staff point of contact, ensuring close liaison and effective working relationships with senior-level internal and external offices.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all joint force experimentation, wargaming, and joint force development and design-related issues.

• Work independently with a high degree of tact and diplomacy to carry out special assignments requiring comprehensive knowledge in joint wargaming concepts and experimentation.

• Represent and foster productive, collaborative relationships with the U.S. military, allies, partners, civilians, defense industry organizations, agencies, and elected officials relevant to a military focus on joint force experimentation, wargaming, and the development and design mission.

• Clarify and communicate project or program deliverables, and monitor milestones to ensure activities are on track to meet specified outcomes.

• Develop senior-level products and present briefs to senior leadership in meetings.

• Maintain a daily schedule of all engagements.

• Manage and monitor team planning and operations.

• Contribute expertise during the planning and conduct of wargames for senior-level military decision-makers.

• Review all correspondence, including publications, regulations, and directives associated with joint wargaming and experimentation.

• Create read-ahead binders with schedules, read-ahead materials, and supporting information.

• Responsible for responding to senior leadership with carefully researched, integrated, and coordinated information.

• Keep internal and external senior military leaders and civilian officials and their staff members informed of controversial and time-sensitive issues.

• Lead small teams or tasks in support of the broader overall effort.

• Establish procedures to ensure safeguarding of personally identifiable information, classified information, controlled unclassified information, and perform other administrative tasks as required.

• Travel to support of JWED priorities, estimated at 25%.

• Possess the ability to work both in a team and individually.

Minimum Qualifications

• 9 years relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; 7 years relevant experience with a master’s degree in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a PhD or juris doctorate in a related field; or 13 years relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office 365.

• Recent and direct experience as a senior leader (i.e., military or senior executive service level) Executive Assistant or Aide de Camp.

• Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, having gained experience communicating at the GOFO DVs level and their staff members.

• Possess excellent organizational skills and have experience coordinating large-scale events involving U.S. senior leaders, foreign allies, the defense industry, and other partners.

• Possess the ability to be detail-oriented, think creatively, work independently, and contribute to a high-performing team.

• Possess the ability to collaborate and coordinate with government and external contractor stakeholders, pinpointing and resolving a range of issues to satisfy the demands of the government client.

• Have a strong understanding of military writing and style.

• The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance. An active TS/SCI preferred.

Preferred Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Have recent military experience as a member of a GOFO staff.

• Familiarity with military wargaming and experimentation.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Have experience working as a Public Affairs or Protocol Officer.
