Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Military Trainer / Sr. Principal Military Trainer – Joint Warfighting Development to join our growing team of diverse professionals supporting our Joint Staff J7 program in Suffolk, Virginia . The J7 supports the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and the joint warfighter through joint force development (JFD) in order to advance the operational effectiveness of the current and future joint force. The selected candidate will help our Joint Warfighting Development (JWD) team develop joint operating concepts and doctrine, educate the Joint Force, synchronize alliances’ and partners’ joint force development programs, and integrate exercises, wargames, and experiments in support of doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities and policy (DOTMLPF-P).
Responsibilities:
Advises the JWD team on diverse matters such as military command control and communications, electronic warfare, weapon systems, contingency operations, Military Tactics Techniques and Procedures (MTTP), force planning, and training exercises
Develops and prioritizes requirements in concert with users
Surveys and analyzes user training process and results
Continuously refines the details and design of the program in order to identify and recommend alternatives and improvements
Utilizes data, experiences, and results from simulations, wargames, experiments, and research to better develop doctrine and tactics for the program
Details analysis and creates briefings to program and customer leadership
Contributes to shaping policy for Joint Professional Military Education (JPME)
This position may also be filled at the Sr. Principal level per the requirements below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Military Trainer:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional leadership experience
Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 year of professional leadership experience
Experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
Planning or operational experience at higher operational or strategic level
Concept writing and development experience
Must possess an active U.S. DoD Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
Must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
Must be able to travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 10% of the time)
Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Military Trainer:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 14 years of professional leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional leadership experience
Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 year of professional leadership experience
Experience as a senior commissioned officer, senior non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
Planning or operational experience at the strategic level
Concept writing and development experience
Must possess an active U.S. DoD Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
Must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
Must be able to travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 10% of the time)
Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS)
Graduate of the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS)
Master’s degree of Military Art and Science
Experience as a strategist, technologist, or SME in applying advanced technology to future warfighting concepts
Recent space experience, air experience (F35 or F220, or specific domain expertise
Salary Range: $73,300 - $109,900
Salary Range 2: $90,900 - $136,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
