OVERVIEW / ROLE DETAILS:

A rare opportunity to join the award-winning KCBS / KCAL in-house creative team in Los Angeles, California! Must possess a passion for crafting unique visual multi-platform marketing in a :30, :20, :10, :05 and rapidly changing digital, social, and streaming world.

KCAL / KCBS is the place to produce the creative work most promotions departments dream of. The focus is on the art of effective News Branding, Marketing, and Advertising instead of simple (often forgettable) promotion.

KCAL / KCBS is searching for an expert visual storyteller with pro-level skills in cinematography/shooting and Adobe Creative Cloud apps (Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder) to join our staff. This is not an entry-level position, and previous news marketing experience is strongly encouraged.

A creative reel or links to work clearly demonstrating advanced production knowledge with a focus on Adobe Premiere, After Effects and DSLR / Digital cinematography, is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Working with a Producer, the ideal candidate must be able to expertly shoot and edit compelling short-form images, promotional spots, special report promos, and occasional long-form content and digital / OTT projects as assigned. Candidate must have extensive experience editing and creating layered visual effects (Premiere / After Effects-level). Must be able to supervise graphics production, select and edit music and accurately mix sound within their projects.

• Deliver network quality work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.

• Proven experience and promotional work samples at network-quality level.

• Knowledge of all current production & graphics technologies and be hardworking enough about the field to stay up to date.

• Ability to remain calm and manage multiple projects under occasional extreme deadlines.

• Possess excellent communication, presentation, organization, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks when assigned.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact successfully with all departments and levels of management.

• Be a strong standout colleague who adds personality and abilities to our department of dedicated Producers, Photographers, Editors and Designers.

• Curious, passionate, dedicated, and invested.

• Must have valid drivers' license.

• Must be willing to join 512 - IBEW 4.03(g) Technicians Union

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $77,000.00 - 111,811.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
