Union Home Mortgage Compliance Intern, Summer 2024 in Strongsville, Ohio

Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real world environment for our interns to Learn about the corporate landscape, Educate them on the mortgage industry, encourage them to Achieve their goals and help Develop their leadership skills. As an Intern Partner, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience in the various fields of an award-winning mortgage company. You’ll work hard, have fun and gain skills that will allow you to take on the world. Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business!

The Compliance Intern will report to the Chief Compliance Officer and will have the opportunity to be a productive member of the Compliance Department. The candidate will learn about the requirements of a Compliance Management Program which is the framework that defines the department and its role and responsibilities. The candidate will also learn Federal and state laws and regulations that impact the mortgage industry and will gain an understanding of how to operationalize compliance, meaning how to implement compliant processes while balancing the needs of the Sales force and Operations.

  • Creating self-assessments to test for regulatory compliance;

  • Performing testing and monitoring;

  • Research assignments (as assigned);

  • Participate in projects;

  • Participate in the creation and development of training materials;

  • Assist with revising compliance policies within each state and create an overview of pertinent information;

  • Testing closed loans to ensure they meet all requirement and are completed in a timely manner;

  • Research and create excel documents for partners to reference.

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree Accounting, Business or Finance, or has an interest in mortgage regulatory compliance.

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing

  • Candidate must be enthusiastic, a self-starter and have the ability to work in a group or independently

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff
