Lockheed Martin Ground Test Engineering (Fall 2024) - Intern in Stratford, Connecticut

Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a Ground Test Engineering Fall Intern (Aug 2024 - Dec 2024). In this role, you will be assigned to Ground Test projects or discreet tasks requiring the application of general engineering principles. Project assignments will be associated with the planning, conduct, data analysis, or reporting on bench tests performed in a laboratory environment as well as review of supplier submittals. Potential assignments cover a broad range of test activities associated with helicopter structure and on board components and systems including dynamic components (blades, rotor head, shafts, etc.) systems, transmissions, drive systems, flight control systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems, etc. The successful candidate will require technical skills, interpersonal skills, and personal initiative. The assignment will be accomplished while working under the immediate direction of a supervisor/mentor. Specific tasks may include: test conduct (fatigue, dynamic component, system level, etc.), post-test data reduction/analysis, documenting standard work, alternate source qualification, review of supplier submittals, generation of test plans/reports. Must be a US Citizen.

Basic Qualifications:

-Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.

-Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

-Strong technical and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills:

-1+ years of college with a major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

-Prior engineering internship experience.

-Proficient in Test Engineering.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
