Description

The School of Communication and Journalism seeks an adjunct instructor in Communication to teach introductory communication course(s) and electives as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program. Responsibilities include teaching class sessions, assessing student performance, submitting timely reports as may be scheduled or required, and advising students. The candidate is expected to teach 3-6 credits per semester, dependent on course availability. This is a non-tenure track position to begin in the Fall 2024 semester (8/26/24).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Communication or related field. Exceptions may be granted for individuals with a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in Speech, Communication, or related field. Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in the classroom at the university level or in the form of workshops and/or training sessions. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Experience working with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Communication or related field. Experience teaching large lecture introductory communication courses. Experience using educational technology (e.g., Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas) to facilitate student learning.
