Description

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (FNP or PNP)/Physician Assistant who will work with physicians and nurses in the practice to provide medical treatment plans for patients. The NP/PA will document patient history, perform a physical examination and make an assessment and diagnosis based on this information, as well as, initiate, review and revise treatment plans and record and present data in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician. The NP/PA will assist physician with treatment plans, respond to incoming phone messages from patient and make call backs to patient reporting response to attending physician. The NP/PA will make referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult the physician for further definitive therapy, order and evaluate appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures. The NP/PA will instruct and counsel patients on health care, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition or other related issues as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner:

Master's degree in Nursing (foreign equivalent or higher), current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State, must have excellent communication skills. Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP).

Physician Assistant:

Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited Physician assistant (PA) school, current license and certificate to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA), must have excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience treating and managing pediatric neurology patients. Experience working in a fast paced, high volume practice. Experience using EMR.
