Description

The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Athletic Training. The incumbent will be located on the Stony Brook Campus.

The successful candidate for this position will have experience in core athletic training courses within the candidate's area of contemporary expertise. The faculty will report to the Chairperson of the Athletic Training Department and will have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Service responsibilities include but are not limited to advising students, mentoring student research projects, and providing service to the program, school, university, community and profession; and assisting the Chairperson with accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, external giving, outreach and other assignments which contribute to program growth.

Stony Brook University is located on Long Island and is part of the State University of New York system. The School of Health Professions' Department of Athletic Training offers a MS degree that is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The department provides a dynamic learning experience through interdisciplinary and professional collaborative research, relationships with strong community programs, and opportunities to develop scholarly activities. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an earned degree in Athletic Training (Bachelor's or Master's)(foreign equivalent or higher), from an accredited CAATE Program
  • Earned Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Athletic Training or related field
  • Board of Certification (BOC) credentials in Athletic Training
  • Certified (or eligible for certification) to practice as an athletic trainer in New York State
  • Minimum of 2 years of college teaching experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an athletic trainer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate degree (or foreign equivalent), or doctoral degree in progress, in Athletic Training or related field
  • Experience of teaching and clinical instruction within a CAATE Athletic Training program
  • Experience teaching both in person and online/hybrid course
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and/or other peer-reviewed products that were disseminated
