Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity in the non-profit industry in Stockton, California for a Procurement Specialist. This role is pivotal in our organization as it oversees the procurement of goods and services, builds and maintains relationships with vendors, and ensures compliance with District purchasing procedures and applicable laws.

Responsibilities:

• Research, identify and evaluate the price, quality, and availability of goods and services to ensure efficient and economical procurement practices

• Negotiate purchase and renewal terms, prices, and indemnification language with selected vendors or service providers

• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, district employees, and the community to foster a positive working environment

• Coordinate demonstrations with vendors related to materials, products, and services to ensure proper understanding and usage

• Review, identify and obtain necessary certificates of insurance from vendors and coordinate with the District insurance carrier when necessary

• Analyze purchase requisitions to determine appropriate buying method while considering competitive and sole source regulations

• Assist in the preparation and development of credit applications, contractual documents, public works contracts, formal bids, requests for quotations and proposals

• Manage and audit inventory, generate reports related to asset management

• Input procurement data into spreadsheets and databases, generate reports, and maintain computerized records related to the District's procurement and contract functions

• Serve as a liaison between District staff and suppliers to resolve discrepancies such as late, incorrect, or damaged shipments, outstanding orders, back orders, and invoice inconsistencies

• Train and communicate procurement and contracts policies and procedures to users of the financial system

Skills:

• Experience with Contracts and Government Contracts

• Knowledge in Public Works and Public Sector Organizations

• Proficient in Government Procurement and Bidding Processes

• Skilled in Contract Negotiation and Approved Requisitions

• Proficient in Data Entry. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably within the non-profit sector

• Proficiency in government contracts and public works

• Familiarity with public sector organizations and government procurement processes

• Experience with bidding processes and contract negotiation is essential

• Knowledge of approved requisitions procedures is required

• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy

• Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
