Schuff Steel Co Junior Estimator in Stockton, California
As the Junior Estimator at Schuff Steel, you will collaborate with Schuff's purchasing, project management, and engineering teams to provide cost-effective estimating solutions that foster the purchase of Schuff Steel design, fabrication, and erection services. Job Overview -
Prepare pricing estimates on new projects and estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts.
Read and understand job bid instructions, detailed specifications, prepare a “take off” of materials included in the job, estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a thorough price estimate.
Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, steel erection labor, equipment and transportation costs to arrive at full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve company’s goals.
Work directly with Sales and Preconstruction Teams to understand size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines.
Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent with structural drawing or drafting course work, or completed vocational program in related field.
Basic knowledge and understanding of general construction management and cost estimating practices.
Basic knowledge and understand of structural detailing and modeling procedures.
Proficient use of Microsoft 365 and MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Knowledge of customary construction terminology and estimating software programs is preferred.
