Schuff Steel Co Junior Estimator in Stockton, California

As the Junior Estimator at Schuff Steel, you will collaborate with Schuff's purchasing, project management, and engineering teams to provide cost-effective estimating solutions that foster the purchase of Schuff Steel design, fabrication, and erection services. Job Overview -

  • Prepare pricing estimates on new projects and estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts.

  • Read and understand job bid instructions, detailed specifications, prepare a “take off” of materials included in the job, estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a thorough price estimate.

  • Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, steel erection labor, equipment and transportation costs to arrive at full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve company’s goals.

  • Work directly with Sales and Preconstruction Teams to understand size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines.

    Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with structural drawing or drafting course work, or completed vocational program in related field.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of general construction management and cost estimating practices.

  • Basic knowledge and understand of structural detailing and modeling procedures.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft 365 and MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

  • Knowledge of customary construction terminology and estimating software programs is preferred.
