Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System Clinical Psychologist (Psychology Treatment Program Coordinator) in Stockton, California

Responsibilities The principal function is that of a psychologist with regional oversight of Bureau of Prisons’(BOP) specialized Psychology Treatment Programs (PTP). Responsible for the initiation of a PTP and for implementing and monitoring clinical progress and program compliance with BOP policies and the applicable 18 U.S.C. Criminal Code, e.g., Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. Responsible for assisting with the implementation and organization of modified therapeutic communities (MTC), including the scheduling treatment activities, and the incorporation of the MTC critical elements into the overall program design. Conducts inmate interviews, reviews treatment plans, reviews progress reports and reviews treatment summaries to ensure they are consistent with the format and requirements of the BOP's PTP Manual and other PTP protocol. Responsible for overseeing the implementation, assessment and coordination of therapeutic programs and for reviewing and monitoring the PDS, BEMR and SENTRY data to determine program clinical and administrative integrity and compliance. Basic Requirements: Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. NOTE: Applicants may have received this degree in either clinical or counseling psychology. AND In addition to meeting the above Basic Requirements, applicants must have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Some examples of the qualifying experience are: Experience in analyzing information and providing recommendations in regard to the establishment or modification of local treatment program objectives. Experience with Cognitive Behavioral Treatment and the utilization of skill building, goal setting behavior management principles. Experience in reviewing and coordinating the development of policies, programs, and treatment protocols for Psychology programs within a clinical or correctional program setting. Experience in providing professional expertise as it relates to the theories, principles, practices and techniques of psychology and addiction treatment. AND Selective Placement Factor: Applicants applying for this position, MUST also possess the following Selective Factor. In the event you do not possess the Selective Factor, you will be found ineligible for the position. Applicants must have at least 12 consecutive months of experience as a Psychology Treatment Programs Supervisor within a Residential Program that has been operating as a modified therapeutic community for 12 months. AND Applicants must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. Additional Information This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit. The representative rate for this position is $167,316 per annum ($80.17 per hour). Special Conditions of Employment Section: The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Individuals selected who are under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and who have not had three years "primary" law enforcement retirement coverage, will not be covered by law enforcement retirement while in this position. To regain coverage, individuals must return to a position with "primary" coverage.
