YMCA OF STEVENS POINT WIS AREA INC Swim Lesson Instructor in STEVENS POINT, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: You will be assigned one or more swim classes to teach, from preschool through adult. You will teach in accordance with the YMCA Swim Lesson Program Curriculum. Critical to your success as an Instructor, and the Y\'s continued reputation as a provider of highest quality swim instruction, is the relationship that you build with your students and their parents. This will be accomplished through positive and regular communication with students and parents relative to progress, concerns, questions and suggestions, while maintaining a safe and friendly aquatic learning environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure the safety of all assigned students. Enforce pool rules and regulations consistently and correctly and report any unsafe conditions to the Aquatic Center Management Team. Proactively communicate with swim lesson participants and parents on a regular basis. Actively seek out concerns, questions, and suggestions, and respond to student and parent needs to the best of your ability. Communicate student progress to students and parents throughout each session. Conduct all swim classes in accordance to the provided YMCA Swim Lesson Program curriculum. Promote personal growth, leadership, cooperation, and diversity appreciation. Teach any level of swim lessons at any time, preschool through adult. Be able to motivate, and evaluate all ages and swim levels of students. Demonstrate proper swim strokes and skills in the water during class. Recognize individual differences and adjust teaching strategies as needed for the success of all students in the class. Maximize swimmer participation every class period and utilize allotted class time efficiently. Attend and participate in all staff meetings/training. Assume all other duties and assignments as deemed appropriate by the Aquatic Center Management Team. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: You must have knowledge of and ability to demonstrate and teach proper swim strokes and skills. Previous teaching experience not required. You must be able to effectively communicate to individuals and small groups in a noisy environment. You must possess the ability to recognize individual differences and adjust swim lessons accordingly. Most important is the ability to build positive relationships and self-confidence as an Instructor. Other critical competencies include patience, problem solving creativity, motivational skills, and the ability to work independently. You must exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. Qualifications: Physical requirements include the ability to stand for up to two hours or more, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, routinely demonstrate proper swimming and CPR techniques, and tolerate chlorine and temperatures up to 90 degrees with high humidity.
