BAE Systems Senior Software Web Application Developer in Sterling, Virginia

Job Description

Join BAE Systems as a Senior Software (SW) Web Application (App) Developer supporting the development of cross-functional and large-scale automated information systems for DoD and Intelligence Community customers. The incumbent supports software and web architecture development, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation, selection and evaluation of COTS/GOTS tools, and integration (with both new and legacy systems). The Sr. Developer is responsible for interacting with customer and development team to gather, analyze, define, and study customer requirements in order to determine the most effective software and web technologies to satisfy their needs. The ideal candidate is an expert at developing software web applications and may workindividually or as a key member of a senior technical team in order to design and develop visually-pleasing, content rich, user-friendly interfaces with intuitive navigation. The Sr. Developer will provide expert guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers, direct multiple contractor and subcontractor teams through to project completion, and lead the resolution of complex technical issues and perform advanced research of high-end technical solutions.

The Sr. SW Web App developer coordinates creation and collection of necessary technology components and integrates them into a coherent site design. The incumbent creates, tests, and maintains software and web-based applications and content solutions to satisfy customer requirements. The Sr. Developer provides software process management and configuration management throughout the software / web development lifecycle that includes developing and maintaining technical documentation to assist with maintenance and upgrades. The Sr. Developer leads the development team through a formal design process using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques, and adhering to laws, standards, and established guidelines for development and delivery of software and web applications.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High School Diploma or GED and 16 years of relevant experience; or Associates Degree and 14 years; or Bachelors Degree and 12 years; or Masters Degree and 10 years; or PhD and 8 years

DoD 8570 compliant information assurance certification

Active TS//SCI willing to complete a Polygraph

Experience

Demonstrated experience

  • Advanced experience leading an Agile software development team in the design and development of applications in a cloud and/or hybrid environment

  • Applies strong analytical and creative problem solving skills to lead the resolution of complex technical issues and/or performs research of high-end technical solutions.

  • Provides expert guidance to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers regarding the development of applications deployed in a cloud or hybrid environment.

  • Familiar with design and development of applications, lightweight microservices, REST services, and/or use of cloud services and frameworks to standardize development practices.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelors or Advanced Degree and appropriate relevant experience

Demonstrated experience

  • Experience with AWS, C2S, Java, AngularJS, Git Source Code Repository

  • Can perform tasks of senior level technician, specialist, and/or managers not performed by others due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks

  • Researches and evaluates new concepts and processes to improve performance.

  • Analyzes cross-functional problem sets, identifies root causes and resolves issues.

  • Understands and applies more advanced concepts and processes to daily activities

Desired, but not required

  • Other applicable software or hardware training such as AWS, C2S, Java, AngularJS, Git Source Code Repository, CloudFoundry, OpenShift, Enterprise Platform Services
