Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Junior Test Engineer . This position is located in Sterling, VA .

This position works closely with Test Leads/Test Engineers to configure and execute testing operations and support for indoor and outdoor facilities engaging in Test & Evaluation (T&E) of government security equipment. The Senior Technician aids Test Engineers or Facilities Manager to prepare for, stage equipment, execute tests, collect data, and restore test environment after tests are complete. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

The qualified candidate for this position will support Battelle’s T&E activities for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contracts. The following activities will be supported:

• Performs T&E and facilities support tasks under supervision of, or from detailed procedures developed by, engineering staff.

• Includes assembling required test articles; setting up and configuring test equipment, systems, test articles, software, and the test environment for test; performing tests and assisting with engineering evaluation or analysis; reliably gathering, maintaining, formatting, compiling, and manipulating technical data; summarizing results and issues encountered; and returning test space, articles, and systems to pre-test state once tests are complete.

• Assists with other testing or facility operations activities as needed.

Key Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Applied Science or related field with 3 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed.

• Experience that demonstrates solving complex technical problems associated with engineering and scientific activities.

• Ability to follow complex written or oral instructions accurately and efficiently.

• Strong interpersonal skills (including team-building skills).

• The ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs, and to stage heavy equipment and test articles.

• Ability to obtain forklift certification.

• Possess & maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.

• Must be US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience collecting and archiving test data using MS Excel, Access, or similar databases.

• Experience documenting test results for use in Test Reports.

• Experience with government security equipment such as license plate readers, radiofrequency identification (RFID) equipment, hardware gantries, highway signage, and/or biometrics readers, or similar Homeland Security equipment.

• Refined written communication skills and experience using Microsoft Word.

• Experience and certification with forklifts and other loading/unloading devices.

• Active Secret Clearance.

• Active DHS Suitability.
