Job Description

Advances enrollment goals for the university by curating the welcome experience for external visitors to the Campus Welcome Center. Serves as coordinator for daily operations of the Campus Welcome Center and a variety of Campus Preview events. Connect with guests as a welcoming ambassador for visiting groups, candidates, legislators, and donors. Reports to the Director of University Visitor Experience. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate as “Chief First Impressions Officer” for the Campus Welcome Center. Enthusiastically greet guests, execute a friendly check-in experience, and offer consistently excellent hospitality to all visitors for all daily Welcome Center operations.

  • Assist with programming and event management. Play an integral role in creation, coordination, and execution of large-scale Campus Preview events.

  • Occasionally deliver private tours for distinguished guests, candidates, legislators, and donors.

  • Serve as a contact for high schools, junior colleges, and other entities arranging group tour experiences on our campus.

  • Assist the Director with supervision of student workers and provide guidance with customer service responsibilities. Set expectations for Welcome Center atmosphere and front desk duties for hourly student workers, interns, and graduate assistants.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience in public relations, marketing, or recruitment including one year of related supervisory experience.

​Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Supervision of Others:

This position may supervise part-time staff.

Other Requirements:

Willingness to occasionally work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends as dictated by program offerings and other responsibilities.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is $45,000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
