Job Description
The Tarleton Center for Child Well-being (TCCW) seeks a Professional Counselor II/III/IV to provide professional mental health counseling, related services counseling for special education students, and outreach to contracted school districts. This role includes participation in special education team meetings, conducting counseling evaluations, using data-driven decision-making, monitoring progress, and leading the mental health education program, including Youth Mental Health First Aid training for a wide range of audiences.
Responsibilities:
Provide individual, group, and crisis intervention counseling to children and families in clinical and school-based settings.
Participate in special education team meetings and offer expert guidance to support school districts.
Conduct counseling evaluations for eligibility and service planning, maintaining accurate documentation that meets ethical and regulatory standards.
Use data-driven decision-making to monitor and evaluate counseling effectiveness and outcomes.
Lead the mental health education program, including Youth Mental Health First Aid training for students, community partners, and contracted school district staff.
Provide consultation for crisis intervention to school staff and administrators.
Deliver training seminars and outreach presentations on mental health topics to students, faculty, and staff.
Assist in program development and evaluation to improve services offered by TCCW.
Qualifications by Level:Professional Counselor II:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
Active licensure in Texas as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.
Minimum of 3,000 supervised post-licensure clinical hours (specific requirements vary by licensure type).
Strong skills in working effectively with a variety of individuals and groups.
Professional Counselor II Compensation Range: The target base annual salary range is $53,745 to $76,321 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
Professional Counselor III:
Meets all qualifications for Professional Counselor II.
Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
Experience coordinating counseling services or developing new programs.
May supervise provisionally licensed interns or graduate students.
Professional Counselor III Compensation Range: The target base annual salary range is $59,370 to $84,311 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
Professional Counselor IV:
Meets all qualifications for Professional Counselor III.
Minimum of 10 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
Demonstrated leadership in managing counseling programs and supervising staff.
Ability to act on behalf of supervisors when needed.
Professional Counselor IV Compensation Range: The target base annual salary range is $65,370 to $92,831 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with school-based mental health programs and special education services.
Familiarity with Youth Mental Health First Aid training or equivalent certifications.
Proven ability to multitask, manage administrative tasks, and work cooperatively with diverse teams.
Position level (II, III, or IV) will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and professional experience.
