Job Description

The Department of Engineering Technology (http://www.tarleton.edu/engtech/) in the Mayfield College of Engineering (http://www.tarleton.edu/engineering/) invites candidates to apply for the Instructor of Mechanical Engineering Technology. This position is a 9-month, non-tenure track position primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses at the Stephenville campus location but may be assigned to teach courses and provide support at all campus locations as well as online. Additional responsibilities will include managing, re-imagining, implementing and sustaining hands-on laboratories to support the learning process, continued development of learning processes and operational support for the department, college, and institution. Work hours are Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. -5 p.m. or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Required teaching load will be a 30-hour total course load during the fall and spring semesters including lab components. Summer employment beyond the 9-month contract will be contingent upon the need for services and budget availability. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:100%Teaching and Service: Develops, implements and reviews effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; remains current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes: work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and to identify professional development activities expected to improve student learning; maintain an appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; work in partnership with student success personnel on student mentoring and orientation; and participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, department. college, and university committees, club sponsorship, and advisory committees. student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Required Education: Earned master's degree in mechanical engineering or technical field from an accredited university

Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate their ability for effective instruction or have evidence of inter­disciplinary industrial experience and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers and department head.
