Internal Sales Representative - Stellenbosch South Africa

T he Internal Sales Representative will be responsible for managing and growing sales within an assigned portfolio of clients. This role involves proactive engagement with customers, identifying sales opportunities, and providing exceptional customer service to drive revenue growth.

Experience and qualifications in the natural sciences, environmental, technical or engineering fields is desirable, however stronger focus is placed on sales, organisational and communication skills.

At Campbell Scientific we aspire to be trusted advisors. The Internal Sales Representative is not only required to manage the commercial aspects of sales, but should be striving to solve customer problems and ensuring our customer’s success.

As part of our efforts to work closely with customers, the Internal Sales Representative will be expected to travel to clients and attend conferences on a regular basis.

    Overview of key responsibilities:

    Technical sales duties:

  • Create detailed customer quotations

  • Take sales calls advising customers on systems and products to meet their requirements

  • Compile tender commercial and technical response documents

  • Facilitate the handover process from sales to production

  • Develop sales documentations and presentations

    Admin and other job-related duties:

  • Enter and maintain new opportunities in the CRM

  • Report on sales pipeline

  • Attend local trade shows and exhibitions to interface with customers and suppliers

  • Research competitors offerings and market developments such as new standards or trending customer requirements

    Experience in working with Campbell Scientific hardware offering and communication protocols.

    Understanding of scientific principles underlying measurements and instrument operation in target market.

    Specific skills and attributes required:

  • Ability to understand basic science principles

  • Investigative by nature. Conduct research and strive for continuous improvement.

  • Computer literate. Word, Excel, SharePoint, TEAMS.

  • Attention to detail. A quotation commit a company to deliver according to the quoted price:

  • Check formulas, quantities etc.

  • Develop a “gut feel” for pricing

  • Strive towards efficiency. It can he tedious to produce repetitive quotations. How can we make it easier. (Basic “short form catalogue” with budgetary pricing to “test the budget”)

  • Good interaction with people. Responsive to email requests. Not scared to phone when needed.

  • Manage business relationships with subset of suppliers. Ability to be firm and push back when required.

  • Self-management: The candidate should have the ability the arrange their own travel itineraries (flights, vehicle rentals, accommodation, visa applications etc) for travelling locally and abroad.
