Position Status:Full TimeFLSA Status:Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pride Center of Staten Island and CHASI collaborate to provide HIV and STI prevention services at the Pride Center. The Prevention program is an integral part of a comprehensive community center for the LGBTQI+ community and its allies. The Prevention Program Manager will oversee the implementation of all HIV prevention programming at the Pride Center of Staten Island. They will supervise the Pride Center-based Prevention staff, work individually with a caseload of young men who have sex with men and transgender individuals to provide HIV Linkage & Navigation Services, and facilitate multi-session group interventions for program clients to increase HIV/STI education and social support. This position is an active manager on the Pride Center of Staten Island’s management team.

Note: the schedule for this position is Tuesday- Thursday 9am-5 pm, Friday 12pm-8pm, and Saturday 10am-6pm.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct in-reach to existing youth/young adult programs and outreach in the Staten Island community to recruit those at high risk of transmitting or contracting HIV and other STDs in prevention programming, particularly men who have sex with men (MSMs).

  • Screen MSMs ages 16-29 at highest risk for acquiring or transmitting HIV to determine participation in the program.

  • Enroll and navigate clients through HIV Navigation Services.

  • Provide Linkage & Navigation services for all participants who need assistance with referrals such as HIV Counseling Testing and Referral (CTR), STI CTR, PrEP/Pep, other needed services

  • Facilitate a multi-session, prevention-based educational group for young (17-29 years old) MSM clients during multiple cycles per year.

  • Directly supervise Prevention staff team.

  • Maintain online testing portal and manage HIV/STI testing requests.

  • Manage testing schedule for on-site and alternate venue site testing personnel.

  • Strengthen and maintain relationships with partners to uphold or develop new linkage agreements and other community resources.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records and files. Assist with reporting as required by funder and agency. Prepare and submit all paperwork on a weekly basis.

  • Provide crisis intervention and mediation for youth and other Center participants as needed.

  • Assist with additional Pride Center programming as requested.

  • Attend trainings and conduct online research to remain up to date on relevant subject matter.

  • Participate in weekly supervision, program, management and agency-wide meetings, and quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Perform all functions in alignment with CHASI and the Pride Center’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree & Licensure: Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW), LCSW, or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required

  • At least 3 years of experience case management, group interventions, or other related experience working with LGBTQ+ youth, MSMs, transgender individuals, clients with a history of substance use and/or mental health issues, persons living with/ affected by HIV/AIDS and/or diverse groups of youth/young adults

  • At least 1 year of experience managing evidence-based interventions, contract deliverables, and staff required

  • Candidate must demonstrate ability to work effectively and positively with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds; ethnic, cultural and sexual minorities with a sex positive and harm reduction approach

  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team required
