Position Title: Supervisor, Maintenance Planner Scheduler (Power Plant)

Position Purpose:

This position supports the operations, maintenance, and engineering requirements needed to maintain the safe, reliable operation of the plant. This position supervises and coordinates the planning and scheduling activities to achieve efficient and safe maintenance activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in the decision-making process for the Maintenance group by attending daily or weekly maintenance staff meetings; and using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to review maintenance requests, determine priorities, and perform planning and scheduling activities.

  • Assist in reviewing work requests to determine completeness of job scope, adequacy of troubleshooting, and planning prior to scheduling and determining availability of equipment.

  • Coordinate the maintenance planning function by providing direction and assistance to planners in review of work requests and assembly of work packages for in-house maintenance or for contracted maintenance. Work with all plant personnel to determine feasibility of non-routine work requests and method of completion.

  • Responsible for ongoing development and administration of effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Responsible for maintaining accurate maintenance history on plant equipment and for developing maintenance programs to reduce incidence of repairs.

  • Responsible for facilitating the development of maintenance performance indicators to measure maintenance effectiveness and to help drive maintenance behaviors toward continual improvement toward business objectives (increased reliability, uptime, capacity), while also improving maintenance efficiency and costs.

  • Assist and coordinate staff in developing work orders and work scopes for contracted maintenance projects and plant modifications. Ensure contracted services are properly completed with specifications of the contract.

  • Fill in, as needed, for absent planners and maintenance supervisors, and maintenance superintendent.

  • Improve processes and procedures used in planning and scheduling to increase overall maintenance safety, productivity, and communications.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance group to establish schedules to assure timely and accurate work completion.

  • Supervise contractor and vendor activities to assure timely and cost effective completion of work, including, but not limited to annual services contract construction projects and outage contract activities.

  • Maintain the computerized asset management system. Prepare status, expense, or other reports as needed.

  • Create daily and weekly work schedules, as directed, using input from plant contacts to address current plant priorities.

  • Take necessary action to obtain additional work force, tools, or material resources when indicated by the existing maintenance workload. Anticipate future facility requirements and make recommendations for improvements accordingly.

  • Provide CMMS training to all LOS employees.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED).

  • Seven years of coal-based power plant maintenance/operations experience and/or industrial experience.

  • Knowledge of coal-based plant equipment and systems, and maintenance planning and scheduling functions.

  • Mechanical and electrical diagnostics aptitude.

  • Experience acting as a lead, in a step-up role, or previous supervisory experience.

  • Strong organization, planning and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • A valid driver's license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires constant sitting; frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds; and occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, use of keyboard/computer, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Finger dexterity, hand coordination, good color vision, good hearing, and the ability to speak are required. The ability to analyze data/reports, conduct research, create reports, and implement recommendations is also required. The incumbent frequently works around noise, and occasionally in areas of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, poor ventilation, electrical risks, high-pressure fluid systems, rotating machinery, and in confined areas. This position must be respirator qualified. The incumbent must also be able to provide work direction; read, write, and perform basic arithmetic; weight/measure calculations; develop plans, procedures, and goals; and be able to work under pressure or in stressful conditions.
