  • Job Summary

  • Performs a wide range of housekeeping and maintenance tasks and projects associated with the maintenance of the physical facility including stripping, sealing, and refinishing of various floor surfaces, spot cleaning and extracting carpet, operates, maintains and repairs equipment and systems throughout the hospital. Operation of heavy equipment such as rotary buffers, automatic floor scrubbers, and others is required. Also, may be required to perform other housekeeping tasks. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

  • Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort

  • Works in a typical Hospital environment subject to the hazards associated with such a facility. A flexible working schedule is required including overtime and weekend assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently. Extensive and constant amounts of physical effort required including walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and operation of heavy machinery associated with routine floor care projects. Vision must be good or prescribed glasses worn. Preference for routine, organized activities performed according to predetermined Organization policies. High tolerance for pressure and stress due to task interruption as well as task overload.

  • Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred and the ability to pass a basic math and reading comprehension evaluation.

  • Experience: Prior floor care, in a hospital setting with experience preferred with knowledge of floor care.

  • EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Must be knowledgeable in the use of all chemicals and all equipment. May need to carry beeper and answer pages.
