The Stanford Center for Global & Online Education (CGOE), part of the School of Engineering (SoE), seeks a highly motivated and dedicated Sr. Director, Custom and Executive Education to maintain and strengthen its leading position in lifelong and online learning. This individual will be directly responsible for managing a team of 8 staff members and for operating and growing CGOE’s portfolio of custom and executive education programs, delivered online (live and asynchronously) and in-person (on the Stanford campus and around the globe), on topics such as digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, leadership and management.
As part of this job the successful candidate will be expected to:
Develop relationships with clients, Stanford departments, faculty and instructors.
Set the strategy and roadmap for the portfolio of custom and executive education programs.
Come up with creative solutions to meet market needs and demands and balance those with staff capacity and faculty interests.
Stay abreast of industry trends and market needs.
Collaborate closely with a variety of CGOE teams such as business development, marketing, and finance in order to efficiently develop and market custom program opportunities.
Manage a team executing a large number of programs at any given time, and develop processes to achieve operational excellence and the highest level of client and faculty satisfaction.
Occasionally present the team’s activities to delegations on campus and at conferences.

Your responsibilities include:
Lead and oversee development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements. Oversee the development, adherence to, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
Lead strategic planning for the program/entity.
Represent the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders. Provide expert consultation related to program development, funding opportunities, or other specialty area.
Develop outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships. Develop and oversee strategic financial planning and sustainability for the program/entity, as needed; monitor performance and ensure appropriate controls.
Oversee the administration of courses; create and/or advise in the development of curriculum; and/or advise, coach and mentor clients and program staff.
Coach and mentor program staff.

Education & Experience (Required):
- Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):
Ability to develop program partnerships and new revenue streams.
Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
Ability to oversee and direct staff.
Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.
Certifications and Licenses:
- For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.
Education & Experience (Desired):
Experience in the delivery and development of professional programs, particularly custom and executive education programs, and fluency in in-person program delivery as well as online experience.
Experience working in a diverse cultural setting.
Ability to operate well in an ambiguous setting and develop new approaches for projects and programs that haven’t been tried before.
Experience working in a university setting and interacting frequently and effectively with faculty members.
Ability to switch easily and smoothly between orientation to detail and a big picture view.
Experience in business development activities an advantage.
Ability to present effectively and speak easily and in an engaging manner to an audience.
Working Conditions:
May work extended hours, evenings or weekends.
May travel locally and globally.
Occasional overnight travel.

Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.

Pay Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $140,184 to $175,260 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
