The Digital Solutions (DS) Department of the Stanford GSB seeks an experienced and highly skilled Business Analyst/ PM within the Delivery group. Having a customer experience centric service mindset, the Sr. IT Business Analyst/PM will execute substantial techno-functional, operational, project management, and quality assurance efforts with university-wide focus & impact. We seek a creative problem-solver and an enthusiastic team player with a keen interest in developing mastery at the intersection of the fields of technology and higher education. We are looking for a skilled senior IT business analyst who can define and document system requirements and manage technology projects for building, improving and maintaining sophisticated, business applications with an expectation to deliver high quality products and services that meet their needs within appropriate timelines and budgets. These applications support GSB’s critical functions and program offices who in turn supports faculty, graduate students, staff, and alumni. Our team aids faculty, graduate students, and staff with an expectation to deliver high quality products and services.
This Business Analyst role requires someone who can wear multiple hats and can coordinate & communicate with diverse business partners, understand & elicit business problems, suggest & design solutions, document requirements, and work with our technical team to build an outstanding product. In this role, along with supporting operational activities, you will contribute towards all phases of a delivery project, including systems analysis, architecture and technical design, development, build & release, and maintenance. You will be expected to provide innovative solutions to grow and stabilize the technology platforms along with improving the processes. You are a self-motivated, rapid learner, a seasoned thought partner, and an exceptional communicator with the ability to translate between business and technical partners.
The Senior IT Business Analyst will work a hybrid schedule, typically being present on campus a minimum of 2 days per week. May work extended hours, evenings and weekends. The hybrid work schedule could be adjusted in future to better suit school requirements.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Communicate with business users to understand, synthesize, and analyze business problems and their solutions using a rich variety of methods (e.g., interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, data analysis, etc.)
Design solutions to address complex business problems while balancing business needs, usability, system consistency, simplicity, and maintainability.
Facilitate & obtain consensus on the solution design between business & technical teams.
Document user stories and detailed functional system requirements with supporting documentation (e.g., mock-ups, prototypes, workflow diagrams, detailed requirements, etc.)
Represent our business partners while working closely with the development team to clarify business needs and solutions throughout the implementation process.
Provide demos, facilitate user acceptance testing, and obtain business partner approval of newly developed functionality.
Be a champion for the applications you own and look for opportunities to continually improve the systems.
Instrumental in coming up with innovative solutions following latest tech trends (in higher education) to grow and stabilize the technology platforms along with improving the processes.
Oversee testing, debugging, change control, and documentation for major projects and applications.
Lead projects on all phases of application development and help troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
Work with a variety of users to gain information, and develop intra-system tradeoffs between different users, as necessary; interact with a diverse client base and outside vendor contacts.
Independently lead and direct projects, teams, and customers asks requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.
Always look out for opportunities based on data to provide plan options for successful project delivery.
Resolve issues quickly and take actions that meet university goals, with partnership. Align with the University on broad technology directions.
Adept with using collaboration, tracking, and internal systems like JIRA, Confluence and ServiceNow to name a few.
Build positive working relationships with departmental staff with customer service centric mindset. Provide one-on-one consultations to provide guidance during key phases of the project and application life cycle.
Be data driven and analytical in creating and proposing solutions.
Open to try new approaches, tools and incorporate AI into standard functions to enhance efficiency of the role.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and ten years of relevant experience or combination of education nand relevant expdrience.
Passion for working with end users to understand their needs and improve their end-user experience.
Experience working on both project and support/operational activities (simultaneously at times) to make tangible progress and no impact to customers.
Comfortable working at both strategy and detailed implementation; ability to see the big picture, how individual components fit into it, and the implications of decisions; strong organizational skills, instinctive attention to detail; ability to execute quickly and efficiently.
A self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and follow-through; a high degree of creativity and pragmatism; the ability to juggle multiple projects; and the ability to take a project through from conceptualization to execution.
Familiarity with various technologies like AI (ChatGPT), Cloud technologies like Oracle, Salesforce, websites, portals, CMS, data management and reporting skills and platforms like SQL/PLSQL, Informatica, SnapLogic (API/Sync mgmt.,), and Tableau.
Familiarity with data analytics tools that can be used to present a data driven view.
Familiarity with prototyping software to create rapid prototypes for user consideration.
Exceptional customer experience and relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
Demonstrated experience working with partners, developing and managing budgets, and service contracts.
Self-starter with excellent verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
Experience working with distributed technical and functional teams working in an agile/scrum environment.
Demonstrated ability in building applications that boost user engagement and efficiency.
Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days of onsite work per week at the Stanford campus.
May work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
The expected pay range for this position is $150,525 to $174,035 per annum.
