Heralded as a hub of undergraduate innovation, the Office of the Vice Provost for UndergraduateEducation (VPUE) creates and sustains meaningful interactions between students and faculty both within and outside the classroom. As a collaborative team member of VPUE, you have a unique opportunity to advance and support programs that touch and enhance the lives of every undergraduate student at Stanford.
The Haas Center for Public Service is seeking a Program Director for Student Service Organizations. The Program Director is responsible for supporting and advising student service organizations, collaborating with other Haas staff on supporting one-time service events, and supporting student service activities focused on civic engagement. The Program Director oversees an array of activities and advising designed to cultivate ethical and effective service and engage students in multiple public service pathways. This person will report to the Associate Director for Programs.
In this role, you will:
● Administer the Cardinal Commitment program in which students register their long-term service commitments and received access to resources that support their service.
● Coordinate resources for student service groups and individual students, including room reservation requests, transportation support and student group storage.
● Identify and evaluate data needs, manage the implementation and development of technology for student registration in Cardinal Commitment and application for transportation support and other resources.
● Serve as the Haas Center’s primary liaison to the Office of Student Engagement and other student affairs units involved in student advising and major student service initiatives.
● Advise and support student service group leaders and members in the knowledge, skills and dispositions that enable them to engage in sustained service.
● Mentor the student leaders of key student service groups including but not limited to Alternative Spring Break (ASB) and Stanford in Government (SIG). Coordinate Haas Center programming conducted in collaboration with these closely affiliated groups.
● Serve as subject matter expert and event consultant for student groups focused on civic engagement, including the Democracy Day student planning committee.
● Facilitate public service training and workshops for student group leaders and members, including the fall quarter workshop series for Alternative Spring Break.
● Reconcile complex issues; analyze diverse transactions from multiple sources.
● Summarize data from multiple sources, prepare and manage reports and presentations.
● Lead, create and contribute to development of business practices and organizational change to improve processes and workflow.
● May oversee, analyze and assist in financial processes and development of budgets.
● Serve as a key member of a project team.
● May train and supervise other staff, volunteers and temporary workers.
● Support occasional evening and weekend events.
● Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
● Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
● Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
● Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills.
● Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
● Advanced customer service skills.
● Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
● Understanding of financial transactions.
● Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
● Advanced degree in relevant field
● Understanding of and experience with principles and practice of student development, ethical and effective community service, and service-learning in the higher education context.
● Skill and experience in advising students individually and in groups.
● Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple assignments and activities, and track many details while under pressure and with frequent interruptions.

The expected pay range for this positionis $95,000 to $105,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
