POSITION SUMMARY:

Stanford Live is seeking an Associate Director of Campus Engagement and Public Programs who will be responsible for planning and implementing Stanford Live’s campus engagement programs. This individual will be a member of the curatorial team for Stanford Live and develop substantial engagement programming in tandem with the programming of the overall season. The associate director will have administrative and producorial responsibility for dance and theater programs each season, many of which amplify the season themes and provide avenues for deeper engagement with the university. Stanford Live’s goal is to integrate with the academic mission of the university through collaboration with Stanford faculty by both connecting with existing research interests and developing new initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for connecting Stanford Live’s vision and strategy with faculty, students, artists, and administrators to develop projects in accordance with course work, departmental and faculty goals and objectives, as well as Stanford Live’s vision and strategy. The work will aim to resonate with the Stanford community and respond to issues of global significance. The engagement program is continually evolving and experimentation with new formats and voices is encouraged.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the curatorial team (Executive Director and Director of Programming) to develop a portfolio of events and multi-disciplinary activities that provide a deeper path into the artistic programs and season themes.

  • Design engagement programs that include high-profile speakers, panels and talks involving visiting speakers and Stanford voices, documentary film series, and activities to facilitate student engagement with the arts by connecting visiting artists and their work to a variety of campus constituencies.

  • In-person implementation of all campus engagement events (some evenings and weekends required), including coordinating production and logistical needs.

  • Design residency plans for visiting artists connecting them with a range of academic departments and campus entities.

  • Develop and maintain vital campus relationships with key faculty and administrators, including department chairs.

  • Contribute to the development of program budget and manage budget effectively.

  • Create an appropriate evaluation process for the campus engagement programs, including determining ways to get feedback from students, faculty, and artists.

  • Manage one part-time student intern(s). who will assist in the execution of the campus engagement program.

  • Ensure that the logistics of each individual project are executed. Execution of programmatic logistics at the highest level, including all technical requirements, scheduling, and communications with all relevant parties.

  • Conduct evaluations of each residency. Write and distribute final reports for residency projects as appropriate.

Please note that this position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid. The on and off site days will vary depending on the events schedule.

● A combination of education and relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience.

● Ability to work collaboratively with professional educators, professional artists, students and faculty.

● Ability to develop and maintain vital campus relationships with key faculty and administrators, including department chairs.

● Ability to think strategically and translate strategy and goals into design and action.
