Role Summary/Purpose:

You'll work within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on business goals. This person will be responsible for both the development of people and the overall success of deliveries including analysis and design, development, deployment, optimization, and day to day operations. The role can be broken down into the following key aspects: 

Coach: You are a mentor to your engineering team, taking every opportunity to up-skill our developers 

Quality control: You have battle-tested JavaScript knowledge and can dive deep into the code to provide thoughtful feedback and ensure the highest quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle

  • Coach & mentor junior talent

  • Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to create amazing apps

  • Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony

  • Participate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolution

  • Ability to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixes

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the year

  • Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance

  • Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into Synchrony's products

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years in full stack development with a strong focus on JavaScript (ReactJS in particular) OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of experience in the same.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices 

  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals 

  • Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines 

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Redux, Styled-Components, & RTL

  • Live and breathe testing 

  • Extremely self-driven and can work autonomously 

  • A desire to be in the FinTech space 

  • Good to Have Cypress e2e Implementation.

  • Good to Have understand Accessibility, Analytics Implementation.

Grade/Level: 10

The salary range for this position is 95,000.00 - 160,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
