Functional Description:

Davis Defense Group, Inc. (DDG) is seeking an Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP) Editor to support the U.S. Marine Corps College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) in Quantico Virginia. This position will support the development of onsite and online distance education curriculum for company grade officers Professional Military Education (PME).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and edit various products including courseware, quizzes/exams, scripts, faculty development materials, marketing materials, and online content and courses.
  • Review and edit products targeted to different audiences in a variety of areas including administration, communications, military concepts, leadership and ethics.
  • Paginate courseware and assemble original course books and exams electronically.
  • text type files into mobile e-book compatible files, e.g., Moodlebooks.
  • Reformat Government or commercial courseware into MS Word and Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) formats, obtaining any necessary copyright permission, and maintaining an archive of copyright permissions requested and completed.
  • Assist curriculum developers in collecting and reporting results of Course Content Review Boards (CCRB).
  • Work collaboratively with CDET staff, curriculum developers, media specialists and students to provide writing and composition advice/assistance and instruction.
  • Conduct anti-plagiarism software checks on written assignments.
  • Provide support to the CDET online writing center including development of online writing tools and courses for students and faculty.
  • Teach an online essay fundamentals class multiple times annually for specified programs.

Required Experience:

  • Editing, proofreading, and fact-checking products for accuracy, consistency, and conformity to style and tone across digital, web, and multimedia platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office365 and Adobe suite applications.

Desired Experience:

  • Understanding and implementing client style guides for identity guidelines, usage, and formatting.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS, e.g., Moodle).
  • Use of anti-plagiarism software (e.g., Turnitin) and analysis of results.
  • Prior military experience or experience supporting the military.

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree in communications, English or a related discipline.
