Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for patient intake process, insurance verification, authorization requests, and communicating with clients regarding their ongoing medical supply needs and durable medical equipment needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Gathers patient information from referral sources during the intake process to create an accurate electronic patient record.

  2. Accurately verifies insurance coverage and requests authorizations when appropriate to ensure clean claims are submitted for reimbursement.

  3. Contacts clients to confirm supply/equipment needs, verifies physician order is on file, and reviews insurance coverage to support patient needs are met.

  4. Creates Statement of Medical Necessity documents, forwards to physician offices for signature, and tracks to ensure timely return.

  5. Confirms Delivery Tickets in patient record to release information for the Billing process.

  6. Conducts training on enteral equipment with patient/family to support safe discharge to home environment.

  7. Troubleshoots equipment problems with patient/family over the telephone to provide customer service support and prevent emergency care visits.

  8. Works closely with Financial Services to ensure clean claims are submitted to insurance companies.

  9. Participates in daily huddle meeting, weekly clinical coordination and monthly staff meetings in order to remain informed and perform at high level of competency

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Associate Degree required

 Minimum of two years of experience working in a medical office setting, working with insurance to include coding, electronic medical records, and customer telephone service and computer software packages required.
