Assistant Dean of Students - Compliance Dean of Students Office Description JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean works as a member of the Dean of Students Team who supports an institutional mission that helps students achieve their full potential, develops in them a capacity and passion for lifelong learning, and prepares them for leadership and service in society. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate efforts to comply with and carry out the responsibilities under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This position plays a critical role in helping Gustavus ensure that every member of our community is aware of their legal rights under Title IX, and that the institution complies with all legal obligations under Title IX. In addition, this position serves to support students and their development within the Dean of Students Office and plans, directs, and oversees the administration of all programs and services ensuring compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA). Employment Type: Full-time (.96 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, and Exempt (Salaried) MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Title IX (60%): Prepare and disseminate educational materials to the campus community, including brochures, posters, face to face trainings and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of Title IX rights and responsibilities; Create, implement, and assess sexual misconduct (sexual assault, sexual exploitation, dating/domestic violence, and stalking) prevention programs and ongoing awareness campaigns that are culturally relevant and inclusive of diverse communities; Collaboration with the SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) Coordinator, supervision of SART, and train SART advocates as needed; Recruit and train respondent advisor group; Develop and maintain working relationship with local prevention and survivor advocacy and support organizations, and other community stakeholders; Administer and analyze the Gustavus annual sexual misconduct climate survey; Coordinate training for the Gustavus community about their rights under Title IX and grievance procedures; coordinate in-service training to all employees concerning Title IX policy; Receive and process, in a timely manner, inquiries/complaints from students, faculty, staff, third parties, and administrators regarding rights and responsibilities concerning harassing behavior or other discriminatory behavior in violation of Title IX; Coordinate and monitor Title IX efforts of other College offices that receive and/or investigate complaints, including but not limited to Human Resources, Student Conduct, Campus Safety, and College Athletics; Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports, and other compiled records regarding complaints of sexual harassment, including annual descriptive reports of number and nature of filed complaints and disposition of complaints; Remain knowledgeable about the current state and federal laws and regulations and trends in the field of education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices that violate Title IX; Monitor College Title IX policy and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal law and regulations; serve as a liaison officer to state and federal government compliance or investigation officers; Advise President and Other College officials. Provide ongoing consultation regarding Title IX requirements, grievance issues, and compliance programs to the President and other College officials; Prepare annual statistical reports for the campus community on the incidence of sexual harassment or other Title IX matters. Annual reporting shall be made to the President, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and the individual responsible for the Clery Annual Security Report. Coordinate Title IX team meetings. Assistant Dean of Students (25%): Serve as a member of the Dean of Students leadership group, including membership within the Student Assistance Team and other appr priate divisional and College-wide committees and work groups; Provide general counseling, advocacy, and problem-solving services to students and parents; Supervise 1-2 staff in the Student Life division; Share responsibilities of campus-wide Dean on-call rotation for 24/7/365 crisis response; To promote and support active student engagement in the life of the campus community; To encourage and facilitate the fullest possible development of student potential; To foster a seamless environment of learning on campus; To promote and enhance a sense of community on campus; To promote and support a campus environment where diversity and equity are recognized, celebrated, and valued; All other duties as assigned. ADA Compliance Officer (15%) Plans, directs, and oversees the administration of college-wide programs and services ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Provides leadership and consultation in promoting access and equity for persons with disabilities; Serves as chairperson for the Accessibility Committee; Coordinates all requests for reasonable accommodations for students, staff and faculty; Coordinates all ADA grievance related activities filed by students, staff, and faculty; Directs the College's compliance initiatives as it pertains to the ADA and other disability related laws and legislation; Recommend policy changes to the College's Executive Leadership Team to remain compliant with ADA and other disability related legislation.
