POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Technology Designer plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Director of Electrical Engineering this individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Senior Technology Designer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed - both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Design one or more of the following: voice/data telecommunications cabling infrastructure, outside plant infrastructure, audio/visual systems, paging/mass notification systems, digital signage, card access security, CCTV security (IP cameras), video management, and video storage. Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of telecommunications, audio/visual, security, and networking principles (e.g. RCDD, CTS, CPP/PSP, etc.). Maintain strong knowledge of Design Standards (e.g. RCDD, TIA/EIA, CPTED, CPP, PSP, NEC, NFPA, etc.). Develop estimates for assigned scope of work and is accountable for ensuring we stay within scope. Create project plans and schedules for execution of work. May serve as project manager for complete technology-based projects, when assigned. Actively manage assigned projects, driving them to completion. This will require a combination of strong delegation and follow-up, combined with personal execution of work as needed. Support the business development process through input to proposals, meeting and interviewing with prospective customers, etc. Provide work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned. Approve final equipment selections and drawing submittals. Provide technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines. Possess and maintain a basic understanding of Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices. QUALIFICATIONS Required Technical degree in or extensive experience with Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other applicable design and engineering fields. Demonstrated a strong proficiency in low-voltage systems design in their core discipline. 8+ years of relevant technical design experience across a variety of commercial buildings (public sector, office, schools, higher education, healthcare). Knowledge and experience with industry Design Standards (e.g. RCDD, TIA/EIA, CPTED, CPP, PSP, NEC, NFPA, etc.). Represent the company in a professional matter. Strong interpersonal and communication ski ls, and ability to collaborate with others. Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application , including MS Office. Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel Preferred RCDD Certification, and/or additional industry recognized certifications are a plus. Working Conditions Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
