University of St. Thomas Sacred Scripture/Biblical Studies Tenure Track Faculty in St. Paul, Minnesota

The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity (SPSSOD) is operated under an affiliation agreement between the University of St. Thomas, the Saint Paul Seminary and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The vision, mission and core values of the SPSSOD are as follows:

The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity, the Roman Catholic seminary of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and the graduate school of theology of the University of St. Thomas, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Sacred Scripture. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2025.

Applicants should be able to offer courses in both Old and New Testaments. Seminary teaching experience is desired, as well as an enthusiastic commitment to the teaching and formation of lay men and women. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching at the graduate level and active scholarly engagement in the theological disciplines. Completed Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent), S.T.D., or S.S.D. is required.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Be an active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and full assent to all magisterial teaching.

  • In accord with the norms of ecclesiastical law:

  • Be able to obtain an ecclesiastical appointment to serve on the faculty of the seminary from the Archbishop of St. Paul & Minneapolis.

  • Annually make a profession of faith and oath of fidelity in the presence of the Archbishop or his delegate.

  • Hiring will be contingent upon the successful completion of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul & Minneapolis’ “E3” Requirements of Safe Environment Training (seehttps://safe-environment.archspm.org/essential-3/), including manifesting a commitment to follow the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct for Church Personnel.

The salary range for this position, depending on initial academic rank / experience, is between $60 - $82 thousand annually.
