Responsibilities Job Description

Job Summary:

As a professional member of Transformation Office, the Principal Process Improvement (PI) Consultant has primary responsibility to support and drive medium to high complex projects independently with the operational owner and team in achieving defined outcomes and performance as outlined by strategic plan and project charter. In this role, the Principal PI Consultant works closely with executive sponsors, operational owner, and project team in identifying, quantifying, and preparing projects for speed to implementation. This position ensures that assigned teams and customers actively engage in continuous process improvement to enhance performance and create efficiencies, understands, advocates, and promotes new ideas, transparency and informed decision making in compliance with industry standards. The Principal PI Consultant collaborates closely with project managers, change management practitioners, and operational owners in developing project plans to support quality implementation, adoption, and sustainment of desired project outcomes.

The Principal PI Consultant brings in-depth experience and knowledge in process and quality improvement, consulting, and operating systems that drive dramatic improvement across the system. The role is expected to be proactive, solution-oriented, biased toward action, and an exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

This role in partnership with leadership is developing and continuously improving Transformation Office service offerings. This role has working knowledge and skills of the fundamentals of the process | continuous improvement services. They actively participate with leadership in coaching and mentoring. and training staff within the Transformation Office and across the organization.

As a key member of the Transformation Office leadership team, the Principal PI Consultant is patient, family, provider, and workforce centric and helps to expedite teams and programs to achieve financial health.

Job Expectations:

  • Leads and facilitates multiple process improvement project teams simultaneously to achieve improved outcomes through effective assessment, planning, coordination, facilitation, implementation, and overall management of the improvement event.Creates project documentation (i.e. documented workflows, procedures, standards, training material, sustainment plan) to support implementation efforts, spread to other areas, and sustainment and hands off to the operational owner and project manager as part of project sign off.

  • Drives sustainability of the work by designing, building out and executing the framework with the operational team to ensure that the implemented programs and projectsare adhering to standard processes and procedures, sustaining performance, and aligning accountability.

  • In partnership with Transformation Office leadership and peers, leads, and facilitates the development, education, and continuous improvement of core Transformation OfficeService Offeringsthat will reside on Transformation Office SharePoint site.

  • Adheres and contributes to standard practices defined by the Transformation Office and standard tools/artifacts.

  • Applies analytical/quantitative thinking to problem identification and solving and balance it with decision making.

  • Act with relentless pursuit of efficiency and value creation. Engages thought partners across the organization that challenges status quo through innovation and technology integration.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with sponsors, operationalowners and team members to become trusted advisor and achieve organizational targets. Engages in frequent status updates and leverage issue escalation pathway as outlined in project charter and service level agreement.

  • Works collaboratively with and proactively engages Change Management Practitioners to support quality implementation, adoption, and sustainment of desired project outcomes.

  • Knowledgeable of Fairview Operating System and incorporating process, artifacts, and training into project work.

  • Leads or participates in work with peers and other departments to create an excellent understanding of workflows and interdependencies andidentify and implement strategies to improve the Transformation Office.

  • In partnership with leadership, engages in and contributes to routine education and development of Transformation Office to multiply knowledge and skill to build a high-performing, sustainable team.

  • Participates in regular team and department meetings, contributing to a sense of community amongst the team and sharing best practices, performance, and service offering updates. Proactively raises barriers, interdependencies and relevant information across the team and engages in solution and mitigation plans.

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. (e.g. CMS, DHS, The Joint Commission, OSHA).

  • Acts as a resource and represent the department and/or organization to external department and organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience

  • 10+ years of operational improvement experience

  • Successful execution and leadership of projects with Executive leadership team

  • Enterprise and Supply Chain of an organization: Advanced lean knowledge and the strategic and leadership competencies required for lean leadership at a senior level.

  • Able to design lean strategies for an organization for significant business unit and demonstrate appropriate lean leadership qualities and practices.

  • Assess current state and determine the best approach to engage the team and drive improvement

  • Leads and facilitates lean projects

  • Identify and leverage lean tools to support process improvement and advance the operating system

  • Provides just in time lean training to others

  • Advance problem solving and data analytic skills

  • Knowledgeable of culture change tools and techniques

  • Coach consultants and operations on lean methods and activities

  • Performs audits at site level and use the results to identify future lean events (leverage site balance scorecard and strategic plan (performance dimensions and strategic projects)

  • Work regularly with senior management to build lean awareness, lean skills and support for implementation.

License/Certification/Registration

  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma (Black or Master Black Belt) or equivalent experience in Lean Organization
