This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota. Telework eligibility is based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion. Commuting to the St. Paul office location for occasional in-person meetings is expected.

Do you have strong project management, communication, and facilitation skills with the desire to innovate and support continuous improvement within state government operations?

The business project manager position provides leadership, direction, planning, and execution of Revenue priority projects that improve the agency's operational efficiency, delivery of services, and facilitates the implementation of legislative mandates. Projects may have major state-wide, agency-wide, or multi-divisional impacts. This can include working with staff from several areas within the agency, other agencies, and external vendors or stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of full-time equivalent professional project or program management experience.

  • Proven track record leading large-scale, high-impact business improvement initiatives with extensive scope.

  • Demonstrated experience or formal training in change management

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make recommendations for solving problems

  • Strong teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from teams within and outside the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with internal and external partners

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and succeed in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven capability of being the communication bridge between technical and non-technical teams.

  • Proficient in maintaining quality and consistency across multiple projects through effective utilization of project planning, scheduling, risk management, status reporting, change control, issue resolution, and other project management practices.

  • Experience coaching and mentoring other project team members.

  • Certifications in PMP, Prosci, ToP, or similar

  • Comprehensive understanding of MN State government policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
